Writing about bodies is a democratic process. For writing makes it clear that we do not merely think about bodies, but always think with and through bodies themselves. To write about the body is to understand it, to learn to read it.
Three artists write about bodies— about illness, vulnerability, memory, desire and mortality. Lauryn Youden, Monilola Olayemi Ilupeju and Janne Kummer seek words to describe what is inscribed within the body.
