Through the steady, gradual expansion of the art collection, the museum succeeded in doubling its holdings, beyond Kolbe’s own works. This comprised 230 sculptures by artists, predominantly from his circle, which provide an overview of the development of German figurative sculpture prior to 1945. Kolbe’s personal art collection, which includes works by Maillol, Sintenis, Scheibe, Marcks and Schmidt-Rottluff, was also digitised as part of the project.
